Paid a visit to Gili Meno today. Got the island hopper public ferry first thing. It was a calm ride over
It's roughly the same size, 5km to walk around. It was very peaceful with a small lake. On arrival I was hungry for some breakfast, so bought some crackers in the small supermarket, and a banana off a lady with a stall. It never ceases to amaze me the different varieties of banana, none like the ones we get at home, all shapes and sizes and they all taste different too
I had a wander to the small turtle sanctuary, where they had baby turtles - I guess ones that needed help to be reared and be released into the sea, (there wasn't much explanation at the sanctuary)
I walked on until it got too hot and I reached the beach on the north side where there should be turtles to spot whilst snorkelling.
The lake
Around the island
Then I stopped on the beach. I must say it did feel like a paradise Island
I wasn't sure about snorkelling again - I'm never that comfortable with my head under water. I see people gently paddling along, snorkelling for ages and I can't quite relax enough - or maybe I haven't got the patience - to just spend time with my head under........also I find I struggle to find a mask that fits & they seem to leak on me.
I did decide to snorkel but I found it hard to get out to where it was deeper - mainly due to the waves from boats passing - but I did see some really beautiful tropical fish.
No turtles though.
