KL

29th January

I was trying to avoid the city but fate, providence, whatever you call it, has brought me here. (I am starting with this last picture first since it looks better on the mobile feed)

The bus transfer was via Jerantut again - this time I took some pictures of the town. It does feel a little bit like going back in time

This is us leaving Kuala Tahan

and approaching the main road into Jerantut

and here on the next bus coming into KL

My heart was sinking a little - arriving at the concrete jungle.

I walked to my hostel - Bestow Boutique Hotel - it sounded fancy and it was quite nice and homely, with two small pools and very friendly staff! You also get a free iced lemon tea, every day of your stay, which is a nice touch.

I had only booked one night - to avoid too many extra fees through booking.com

The room was quirky and a bit claustrophobic to be honest - I didn't enjoy the steep ladder up to the bed.

I went out to explore the city, first walking through Chinatown

and then headed for the famous Petronas Twin Towers - another iconic landmark in an otherwise (to me) ordinary city

Stopping for dinner at an Indian place

I sat in the park, waiting for sunset, so that I could see the towers lit up, then headed back. There were people running round a track in the cooler evening air.

Cute Malaysian Robin - the males have a pinkish coloured breast

This tower is near the hostel and looks cool lit up at night, as do the views from the roof.
