After a somewhat restless night I awoke early & went for a walk. It was colder, at that time. Enough to wear trousers & a jumper.
I had a bit of a siesta, then later went for another walk, this time to go to a small village near by called Ban Na.
I lost the way a little, in the dry rice fields pictured above and got a little nervous about straying off the path & into a minefield.
The scene from 'Kelly's Heroes' came into my head when they are all crouched in a mine field and one guy uncovers a mine,
"What kind is it?" asks Telly Savalas............
"The kind that blows up! How the hell do I know what kind it is!?"............
For fear of going the wrong way I backtracked back to the main road where I met Lucy, a French girl that was on the bus when we left Luang Prabang.
We walked together, this time, along the road.
It was bigger than I expected and I felt a bit like we were trespassing.
We walked to the end and back, then headed back to Muang Ngoy where the thunder was rumbling in the distance.
We got back before it rained heavily.
At the hostel, a French guy, Demetri, who was in the room in Nong Khiaw had moved in here,
We laughed, "room mates again!"
I went out for dinner with Eva. She was craving pizza so we ended up going to one of the more expensive restaurants. I had 'Or Lam' which is a Laos stew. They closed & kicked us out at around 9.30pm.
She was telling me about her job in a refugee camp in Italy. It was so interesting.
