Kawaguchiko

10th April

In the morning, I packed up and gave myself two hours to get to the Bus station, for the bus I had booked to Kawaguchiko - near to mount Fuji and a place called 5 lakes.

It sounds excessive (for a 35 minute journey), but I was worried about getting confused as sometimes, the tubes and directions seem obvious and easy but then sometimes, in a few moments, you lose the signs and everything is in Japanese, with strange arrows, conflicting, and the google dot sometimes points the wrong way, cos it can't pick up the satellite, and you can lose so much time trying to figure it all out!

I passed these school kids in the street, they looked so cute!

Today, though, it all went smoothly. The bus arrived as I got to the stop. Then I found the tube line - I actually got some help from a lady - I must have looked confused, gazing at my phone and she was stood in front of me, and I thought I was in her way and tried to move but she stood in front again and smiled and I showed her my phone and she pointed where to go.

Just a taste of the 'Tube Sounds' which I find amusing

I got to the bus station with an hour to spare and sat in the waiting room reading my book.

The bus left perfectly on time, but it took an extra hour to get out of Tokyo city due to an accident. We passed a car completely on its side......

The rest of the journey was fine and the scenery began to look pretty, with mountains and the spring trees and blossoms on the hillside.....though hard to capture good photos from the bus

It was raining as we arrived at Kawaguchiko station, but I managed to shelter a bit, then bundled onto the bus to take me close to where I was staying.

I hadn't been able to find a hostel, so the cheapest place was 'Village Sun Lake Kawaguchiko Hotel' which had Japanese style rooms! - my room is so cool

with a view of Mount Fuji........

oh well.......the forecast for tomorrow is sunny!

I went for a walk around the lake and grabbed some food from the Lawson shop (a bit like 7-eleven)

It started to rain, and by the time I got back to the hotel, I was completely soaked.

I spent the rest of the evening writing my blog and drinking cups of the free, tea coffee and hot chocolate left out in the corridor.

They leave these robes or 'lounge wear' for you to wear, after a shower, called a Yukata...he he 😄
