Sidemen

A day to explore Sidemen a bit more. Unfortunately most of the walking had to be along the road again, which was not too pleasant, but it was fun seeing all the different coloured trucks and activities at the side of the road. People going about their daily business and smiling at me, probably wondering, 'why doesn't that crazy bitch rent a scooter!?'

Here there was some stone masonry going on - carving stone for the temples

Rice supplies:

Down a side road I found some really beautiful flowers that looked like they had been hand crafted:

Some ducks:

........and of course more rubbish.......even in Beautiful Bali......

This scarecrow was pretty cool

I found a rope bridge called 'the yellow bridge' .......it felt in need of some repair!

A Hindu temple:

And a nice view from the top of the hill:

Back at the home-stay, I have particularly enjoyed watching the little chicken family. There is a mum & about 5 or 6 chicks of different colours that follow her around as she squawks and struts and really does seem to look after her brood!

I bought some more deep fried banana from a stall - which I'm becoming addicted to - and some fruit

Obviously mango, and dragon fruit which is delicious and gorgeously coloured inside:

and the small, brown coloured ones are called Mangosteen, which I've heard people going on about a lot. Inside there are some very sweet white fleshy fruits - you don't eat the purple bit - it's bitter (as I discovered) - or the seed inside the white flesh

Another one I tried in Lombok was snake fruit - I think you can see where the name comes from:

Later on there was another thunder storm and some heavy rain which, I have to say, I kind of enjoyed from the safety of my little terrace.

Putri messaged me to check I was ok. She said it was raining too much! .......she forgets I'm from England!

I managed to get out later for some food. The girl that served me suggested I have a hot drink as it was so cold!?..........really ........its a 'Baltic' 23 degrees!.... at night.

I did wonder, though, if I had maybe angered the Gods by not making my Canang sari good enough yesterday......perhaps Shiva the destroyer had sent the storm.......
