After breakfast, I went to Sanur, with the same driver - Dewa. I must admit I feel like a bit of a Princess being driven about - but it's quite nice. There aren't a lot of options for public transport in Bali.
The roads are always busy, particularly around Denpasar. Dewa had been driving as a job for 3 years - since Covid he said. He said Covid was very bad for him. Before he was a farmer. I asked if he liked driving or preferred farming and he said he preferred farming.
I got to my home-stay at 10.30, too early to check in, so I left my bag and headed for the beach/promenade.
I must say I like the feel of Sanur and it was very pleasant walking along the seafront and sitting in a cafe with an iced coffee reading my book.
I was also delighted to find another turtle sanctuary - this time with adult turtles. It was so nice to finally see some! These were green sea turtles which I missed out on seeing whilst snorkelling
I had a bit of cash left, not too much, which is pointless trying to change to Australian dollars, so I blew it on a sarong - which I wanted - and a pair of flip flops.
I was a bit annoyed I didn't bring my havaianas - I have two pairs at home and nearly stuck one into the rucksack - but I managed to buy a pair off a guy for 200,000 after a bit of haggling (they were 429,000 in the havaianas shop next door). I think/hope they'll be useful.
Later, after I checked in I went for a sunbathe on the beach and a dip in the sea.
My room is quite nice - they have all been good to be honest and on average about £8 per night (the worst one was the first in Jakarta - a bit noisy and no window). This one has a balcony to sit out on. It's a busy street outside but it's quite nice.
I have worked out that my month (28 days) in Indonesia has cost me £800, including rooms, transport, food and activities, plus a few souvenirs & gifts.
That doesn't include flights.
I'm starting to feel a little nervous about flying tomorrow. It's just over 24 hours before I'll be at the airport. I could see the planes going over as I sat on the beach today......
