Timaru

7th January

With only 2 days left with the camper, I am slowly making my way back towards Christchurch,  where I have to return it. 😥

I've enjoyed having my little camper car.

Today I went to Timaru, on the coast. They have a colony of little blue penguins there, like St Kilda in Melbourne, that you can see coming back after sunset.

I was tempted to wait but the campsite I was planning to stay in was 35 mins drive away, & I wasn't too keen to drive at night. I gave it some thought throughout the day.

After lunch in a park, I parked up along the port side where the penguins come, just in case I did stay.

After a short walk around the park & nature reserve I sat on the beach in the afternoon & had a swim in the sea.

It stared to cloud over & looked like it would rain (& the radio had said it was forecast) so I decided not to wait for the penguins & drove to the campsite in Waitito valley.

In a way I was glad as it was on the top of a hill, along another gravel road, very narrow,  but the view was amazing, and only a couple of other campers there.

It rained a bit when I got there, but later the sun was setting & the light looked so beautiful,  I couldn't stop taking photos!! It was so peaceful too, with just the sounds of the birds.

Such lovely light
