Thailand

Some days are for reflection & a slower pace. I enjoy walking around a place, just seeing where I end up and looking at the goings on, of everyday life.

It's sometimes hard to capture in photos - for me anyway - as I sometimes feel I'm intruding when I take pictures of people. I should probably just ask, but then it takes the 'natural' element away.

I find the normal 'goings on' of people interesting especially in another country.

This is a shop front, there was an older lady inside at a desk & another guy on the phone.

and here, some men were fixing the cables, using bamboo ladders.

I'd seen these in Krabi on the top of a few vans. They still use the 'witches' broomsticks.

There was some really great decor going on in a couple of bars

And buildings and decoration I liked. There are a lot of Tailor's shops in Thailand.

Streets & shops. It reminds me of George town a bit.

I stopped off for brunch and a fruit smoothie

They often give you a little bowl of broth to go with the rice & whatever else you're having....this one I photographed nearly empty btw.

In the park

The golden dragon.

Gardens near a temple

I went for a massage. I was going to treat myself on my Birthday but didn't. Not a Thai one, as that sounds painful. I had head neck & back, it was firm but felt really good.

Later I went to the Buddhist temple complex again but it was mostly closed.

It started raining & got heavier so I took shelter for a while. I've noticed recycling bins around Phuket, something I've not seen much of elsewhere.

I went out later to see if there was anything happening for Chinese New Year but couldn't see any celebrations going on. I suppose it's not such a big thing in Thailand as in China.

They don't even have a public holiday. And there's no 'day of rest' in the week, the lady at the bus stop told me when I asked. Every day is a work day, except when they have public or Buddhist holidays, but they do, sort of, recognise the weekend.

My favourite building in Phuket:

It's the start of the year of the Fire Horse 🐎

It's also a new moon & solar eclipse in Aquarius which is meant to mean a time of big change.

I'm not sure I believe in astrology but sometimes you can find your own meanings in things.
