The hostel here is not bad. Close to the old town and the young Thai girl on reception - Milk - is really funny & very nice.
On Sunday they have a street market from 4pm - midnight. It was heaving and there was lots of tempting food.
I had a Crispy, seafood omelette from a stall - I watched him cooking them and stuff them with beansprouts - it was so good!
The coconut milkshake I had was also good, and holding the icy cup really helped the swelling in my hand.
I found another 'Beach ' film location - The Memory at On On Hotel - which was supposed to be in Bangkok & where the character Richard (Leonardo di Caprio) stayed.
It was built in 1927 in 'Sino - Portuguese' style (a mixture of Chinese & Colonial architecture) and served as a crucial stopover for travellers during Phuket's tin mining boom.
There were lots of interesting buildings & temples and the market was bustling all afternoon and evening.
In the park:
There was lots of street entertainment - some little girls dressed, 'pagent style' in short dresses, lots of make-up & high heels, singing. It's innocent enough, I suppose, but I feel uncomfortable watching it.
I was so tired, even after an early evening nap I slept quite well in the night - for me.
Having a lazy, slow morning and just musing at the antics of my room-mates.
The 'Lady from Liverpool ' is quite a character. The guy she was talking to had just smoked a huge spliff & could barely string an understandable sentence together. She'd just had an altercation with the server at the 7 - eleven. Said she'd been short changed & ended up walking out without paying.
Reminded me of Jimmy Carr and the, 'chickin & a canna coake' 🙄🤣
